1888 reference for the rear focusing pattern; based on the Scovill Acme View Box pattern.
The text states that the revolving back has an advantage in that "the ability to draw the slide to the left enables the photographer to obtain a view which he could not get with the usual provision in a camera."

1892 reference for the front focusing pattern; based on the St. Louis Reversible Back pattern.
