Empire State Camera, c1894
The Empire State Camera is a front focusing view camera made from 1894 - 1914. It is nearly identical in design to Rochester Optical Company's more expensive Ideal View Camera having a mahogany body, cherry base, and brass trim. This particular camera is a 6-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch format with a double swing back and unmarked brass lens. Unscrewing the brass knob on the focusing frame allows the front portion of the bed to swing downward when using a wide angle lens.
